Day 3 - 16 August: Casas de Irati to Ochagavia
Our day started with a steady climb through attractive beech forest.
We emerged onto open tops and a high point of 1440m (Paso de las Alforas) with a spectacular limestone sinkhole.
After continuing through forest and farmland we reached a beautiful old church (Santuario de Muskilda) from which there were good views of the distant Pyrenees that we were heading towards.
It was a very hot day and we slowly worked our way downhill along a very steep cobbled path to reach the township of Ochagavia and our camping ground for the night. (7 hours, 14.5km)
